If I want to tone up, I know that I need high reps and low weights. Is twenty reps too much?

Twenty reps may be too many for each workout. Occassionally it is okay to perform high reps but if that is the only type of training that you do, try varying your workout more. Really squeeze your muscles as you perform each exercise. Focus on which muscle you are training, don't just lift weights to move an object. Try a weight that challenges you after 10-12 reps.
